Verod Capital Management today announced it has signed up to the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI)

August 07, 2017
Verod Capital Management (“Verod”) today announced it has signed up to the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), becoming the first West African based Private Equity firm to join the organization.

The PRI is recognized as the leading global network for investors who are committed to integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations into their investment practices and ownership policies. Verod’s commitment to ESG and impact issues are already well enshrined in its governance and policy documents and permeates through its investment activities. Signing onto PRI however represents an important step in enhancing Verod’s efforts towards creating shared value for investors, host communities (in which it operates), as well as in the evolution of its overall sustainable investment practices.

The PRI’s network of international signatories work together to implement a set of voluntary and aspirational principles that provide a framework for integrating ESG factors into investment analysis and ownership practices. These factors are aligned with investors’ goals and values and tailored to each organization’s investment strategy, approach and resources.

“We are delighted to welcome Verod to the PRI,” said Fiona Reynolds, managing director of the PRI. Their commitment to using the PRI’s framework is welcome news and clearly demonstrates how ESG is becoming a critical tool of differentiation amongst investment managers. Verod is the first West African investment manager to publicly commit to investing in a more responsible and sustainable manner using the PRI’s voluntary framework. Sustainable investment is one of the world’s fastest-growing investment trends, and Verod’s leadership provides a model for other West African Investment Managers.”
